The winter storm that blew through Arizona on Wednesday didn’t only bring rain to Phoenix, but also brought snow to Flagstaff.

According to the National Weather Service station there, the city saw on average between 12 inches and 14 inches of snow. Forest Lakes, which is about 40 miles east of Payson, got about 19 inches.

Authorities say sections of Interstate 40 that were closed due to the storm have reopened.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said no winter weather closures of Arizona highways remained Thursday morning following the reopening of I-40 between Winslow and Holbrook.

Meteorologist Valerie Meola provided what Flagstaff will expect on Thursday.

“It’s going to be cold during the day. Highs through the Flagstaff area will be in the lower thirties at best. The sun should start to shine, so that should be good. But the snow should have already tapered off at that point," Meola said.

Meola added that there has been a meager amount of snowfall this season with only a couple major events.
