Arizona is currently in the process of reaching out to homeowners, especially those in rural areas, encouraging them to apply for federal assistance if they need it.

Money from the Homeowner’s Assistance Fund, which is part of the American Rescue Plan Act, can be used for mortgage payments, HOA fees, property taxes and utility and internet payments, among other things.

The program had a soft opening in November, when the state housing department started accepting applications; now that it has full federal approval, the agency has ramped up its media and communications campaign.

The Show spoke with Tom Simplot, director of the Arizona Department of Housing, to learn how much money the state needs to dole out from this fund.
