Sonora’s governor recently met with U.S. diplomatic officials based in his state.

Sonoran Gov. Alfonso Durazo spoke with Ken Roy, the U.S. consul in Hermosillo, and Laura Biedebach, the consul in the border city of Nogales.

On the agenda was the governor’s ambitious infrastructure plan, which includes major highway improvement projects and a massive solar plant in Rocky Point, according to a state release.

But it also includes substantial renovations to the state’s six land ports of entry to Arizona. Millions of vehicles cross through those ports every year, along with billions of dollars of trade in both directions
