Afternoon radio host

KJZZ is looking for an experienced radio host for NPR's All Things Considered on weekday afternoons.

The host is the drive-time companion for thousands of afternoon commuters across the fifth largest metro area in the country.

The host writes, edits and produces content. Candidate should have experience operating an audio board and using digital editing software in delivering live and recorded news and feature content.

This position is based in Tempe, Arizona.

Essential Functions

65% - Anchors news programs, delivers newscasts, continuity breaks and conducts interviews.
15% - Gathers, writes, edits and produces content.
15% - Operates studio equipment.
5% - Fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, English, broadcasting, communication or a related field AND five years of on-air experience in journalism, news, multimedia and audio board operations in recorded and live situations, including two years of supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Three years hosting and anchoring live, broadcast programs with a personable on air presentation and strong, friendly delivery that fits seamlessly into programs.
2. Two years producing well-written, contextual news with sound.
3. Three years live broadcast experience and audio board use.
4. Demonstrable experience exercising discretion in determining content of written copy/news judgment.
5. Two years of audio editing skills.
6. At least one year of digital media experience/writing and producing digital media content.
7. Portfolio of on-air work within the last five years that shows an understanding of target audiences, interviewing skills and well-written on-air news provided in any media format.
