Arizona Public Service generates energy for 2.7 million people in Arizona, according to the company.

Arizona Public Service customers could see a slight reduction in their bills after a 3-2 vote by the state’s utility regulator.

The Arizona Corporation Commission voted in favor of the rate reduction in spite of opposition by APS.

The utility said that although customers would see a short-term savings, in the long term the decision could lead to higher costs.

Commissioner Justin Olson voted against the decrease, saying that it will not affect all customers equally and is likely to be challenged in court.

Not long after the decision, APS said that it plans to take legal action.
