Daniel González shares his story at Phoenix Theatre.

KJZZ partners with the Arizona Republic to bring you the Arizona Storytellers series. We record the live events and share them with you on the radio. In Phoenix, the storytellers sometimes share stories about our community or the life events that have shaped them in general. Megan Finnerty is the creator of the series.

Daniel González is a reporter who covers immigration and border issues for the Arizona Republic. Fifteen years ago, González was sent on his first border story assignment to Rocky Point, Mexico, to cover the murder of two Americans.

González spent several days interviewing witnesses and working with the police. After gathering as much information as he could, he called his editors and filed his story.

You can hear more stories like this at our next night of live storytelling. The next storytelling event is Aug. 31, 2015, at South Mountain Community College.
