Political Analyst Discusses Failed Budget Vote In Arizona House
Monday’s budget vote failed in the Arizona House after one Republican joined the Democrats in opposition.
Arizona political analyst Chuck Coughlin, with the conservative leaning firm HighGround, says legislators knew the vote would fail and this was a way to put pressure on members and see where they stood.
“It’s a negotiating opportunity. And what we will see here over the coming days, I believe, is House and Senate leadership along with some of their members discussing perhaps reducing some of the size of the tax cut, reducing some spending," Coughlin said.
Coughlin also says even if it had passed the House, it lacked the support needed in the Senate.
