One result of neighborhood development is the tearing down of old buildings to make room for new ones. But frequently, that means that people are displaced and, in some cases, can no longer afford to live there.
This is what happened at the Arthur Capper housing project in Washington, D.C. It was torn down and replaced with a mixed-income housing development. Anu Yadav wrote and performs in a one-woman show that features the stories of the people who protested the demolition of their home called "‘Capers." Anu joined us along with Channel Powe, a local community activist and one of the producers of the Phoenix staging of "‘Capers."
"‘Capers" is playing tonight at Phoenix Center for the Arts.
