A huge surprise was unveiled April 26 that will have far-reaching effects on Arizona’s communities and political influence.

The 2020 census results were released, and Arizona is not getting a 10th congressional seat. It’s not hyperbolic to say that not one analyst or pundit in the state thought that was possible.

Candidates were lining up to run for the seat, which was expected to emerge in Maricopa County. But more practically, the outcome will affect how much federal money the state receives.

The Show spoke with Sandy Ochoa of Mi Familia Vota and Paul Bentz of political consulting firm HighGround for their reactions to the results, and to learn how this will impact Arizona.
