The state Department of Health Services reported 750 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths in Arizona as of April 26. That’s typical on a Monday as weekend data is still being gathered.

When it comes to vaccines, the state gave more than 90,000 doses on April 25 and should reach 5 million total this week. The vaccination rate in the state is now approaching 40%

Testing for COVID-19 is still taking place — more than 16,000 new tests were reported April 26, with a positivity rate of 10.4%.

As more Arizonans get vaccinated and COVID-related restrictions are loosened around the state, many are asking when the pandemic may end, and when life may get back to some semblance of normal.

To find out, The Show spoke with Dr. Dave Engelthaler, director of the Infections Disease Division of the Translational Genomics Research Institute.
