Despite the pandemic forcing live theatre to, until very recently, be presented via Zoom or with added elements of audio, the medium remains a vibrant one.

And near the top of the list of its most compelling creators is playwright Lauren Gunderson.

In 2017 and 2019, American Theatre magazine named her the most produced playwright in the U.S.

One of Gunderson’s most recent plays, "The Heath," is going to be presented by the Arizona Theatre Company starting April 14 in audio format with imagery. The production stars actor John Larroquette as Gunderson’s grandfather after he’s passed away from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Show spoke with Gunderson about her work and the theatre.
