Civic and business leaders known as the Greater Phoenix Leadership are speaking out against proposed changes to how elections are conducted in Arizona.

GPL includes 40 executives of Arizona-based businesses that advocate for state infrastructure and policy.

It has signed an editorial in the Arizona Capitol Times entitled “Disenfranchising Voters is not ‘Election Reform,” to protest three bills in the state Legislature that would change early voting.

The editorial says these bills only “feed the paranoia” associated with the state’s election process, and asks that legislators vote no.

Two of the three bills are in the House after passing the Senate, while one bill has stalled in the Senate.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The story has been updated to correct the statuses of the voting bills.
