KJZZ’s is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented self-starter to join a team reporting and producing news programming heard by hundreds of thousands of listeners in metro Phoenix.
The producer prepares and writes scripts, edits and mixes audio, writes news and produces segments and a podcast for KJZZ’s Morning Edition — the weekday morning news program that includes NPR, BBC and KJZZ News.
Duties include preparing scripts, gathering and editing audio, distributing audio to our partner outlets and producing segments. It is fast-paced environment that offers a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities.
50% - Produces audio and scripts for KJZZ Morning Edition morning news program. Works with reporters and host to prepare scripts; gather news, produce show-specific materials and related program information.
20% - Performs tape editing and produce audio elements.
20% - Researches, writes and produces news stories.
10% - Participates in on-air fundraising projects and programming.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting or directly related field and one year directly related experience, such as audio and/or video program and production support experience.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
1. Master’s degree in related field.
2. Two or more years producing radio content.
3. Two or more years of news reporting experience.
4. Two or more years of editing experience using digital tools.
