About 225,000 APS customers will be getting a pay-out thanks to an agreement between the utility and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

Brnovich announced the $24 million settlement in a press release Monday.

Following a 2017 rate increase, some APS customers were placed on new plans that were not their cheapest option.

Brnovich launched an investigation into the utility’s online plan comparison tool, which wasn’t working the way it was supposed to. Some customers were also misled by letters from APS suggesting cheaper plans.

Eligible consumers should receive checks or bill credits within four months of the court’s approval. APS had compensated people impacted by the rate tool errors in the past. This will be an addition to those refunds.
