KJZZ’s Original Productions is looking for an executive producer to direct and oversee The Show, a weekday news magazine program on 91.5 FM. Join a team devoted to telling the compelling stories important to listeners in the Phoenix area and the Southwest region.
The executive producer is in charge of directing the work of hosts and producers who serve an audience of hundreds of thousands of listeners each week in the U.S.’s fifth largest city.
The executive producer will approve topics and story pitches, manage and direct staff; plan and execute a daily radio news magazine, including special series, remote broadcasts and special events, as well as integrate content between Original Productions and KJZZ News.
70% - Develops content and material for network quality programming, specifically for a daily news magazine. Focuses on audience orientation, timeliness, and production values. Prepares content, including gathering and rewriting material so that it will convey required information and fit specific time slots. Works with leadership to create programming that combines national, international, regional and local content for incorporation into program services.
20% - Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of staff.
10% - Participates in fundraising activities, makes promotional appearances as necessary and keeps required paperwork. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting or related field and five years of studio, production, programming and/or technical radio/television broadcast experience which includes two years of supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
1. Five years of radio production experience including local and national programming.
2. Four ears management experience, preferably radio or media teams.
3. Four years project management experience, preferably large-scale project experience.
4. Three or more years of fast-paced, high pressure live broadcast experience.
5. Master’s degree in journalism, communications or directly related field.
