Ability 360 is one of the Arizona's largest home care providers. Now it’s expanding its caregiver services to the West Valley because demand in places like Avondale, Tolleson and Buckeye is growing.

Many older adults and people with disabilities want to stay in their homes. They don’t want to live in a long-term care facility.

"Being in your own home provides comfort, it provides security, its familiarity," said Todd Fricke, vice president of home care services at Ability 360.

Caregivers often provide help with things like bathing or housekeeping. They also play another role: they provide company.

"Isolation is the absolute biggest thing. If you think about it, most of the folks that we service and many of them, the only person that they see for days and days is their caregiver," said Fricke.

Fricke says during the pandemic, the isolation was exacerbated when caregivers became sick and couldn’t visit their client. As for the client, he says it was a double hit. They were isolated and unable to receive services at the same time.
