The lawsuit filed by Arizona’s Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward against Vice President Mike Pence has been met with opposition by Pence’s legal team.

In another attempt to get Arizona’s electoral votes for President-elect Joe Biden thrown out, Ward has sued Pence. The idea is to show that since Pence is the presiding officer of the Senate, he has the power to unilaterally decide whether to accept or reject Arizona's 11 electoral votes.

But Pence’s legal team says the lawsuit is flawed. They say Ward is suing the wrong defendant and should be challenging the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, not Pence, who’s job of certifying the results is mostly a ceremonial one.

The judge has refused to even schedule a hearing on the bid, suggesting he may dismiss it without oral arguments.
