Gas prices are continuing their slow decline nationwide.

AAA Arizona spokesperson Aldo Vazquez says the price for a gallon of gas has dropped about 1 cent in the past week, and 4 cents in the past month. Now, the average gallon of gasoline costs about $2.26.

“The general trend that we’ve been seeing continue this week as lower demand given that domestic stock decreases, and imports are also at the lowest rate since the summer of 2018, has contributed to price decreases for the majority of the country," Vazquez said. "And we continue to expect to see that over the next couple of weeks.”

Gasoline in Arizona still costs about 10 cents higher than the national average of $2.17 per gallon. Prices also change in different parts of the state.

"If you're venturing up to the high country, that's where you're going to be finding some of the higher gas prices," Vazquez said. "Coconino County currently has the highest averages at $2.42, and Pima County has the lowest averages at $2.00 total."
