Until earlier this week, two of the major college conferences  — the Pac-12 and the Big Ten — were holding fast against the push to play football this fall.

The three other members of the so-called Power Five conferences — the Southeastern, the Atlantic Coast, and the Big 12 — had decided to go forward with modified schedules. And the Big Ten Conference has shifted gears to join them.

That leaves the Pac-12 standing alone, at least for now, trying to figure out the next steps in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, fights for racial justice and wildfires that are affecting half of the conference’s members.

Kenneth Shropshire is CEO of the Global Sport Institute at Arizona State University. The Show spoke with him for his thoughts about the Big Ten reversing course and moving ahead with a fall football season.
