The Bureau of Land Management has completed the sale of two public land parcels to the Gila River Indian Community. The sale of the two parcels, totaling over 3,300 acres, is in accordance with the Gila River Indian Community Federal Rights-of-Way, Easements and Boundary Clarification Act.

The act settled disputes over existing federal rights-of-way on the community’s land that prevented housing development and full implementation of water rights. It also settled a dispute involving the northwest boundary of the reservation, as one of the land parcels is located on that border.

The Gila River Community encompasses the Pima and Maricopa tribes. The parcels include cultural resources and archaeological sites of historical significance to both tribes.
