During a roundtable discussion organized by the Joe Biden campaign about COVID-19 public health impacts on the Latino community, state Rep. Alma Hernandez says many minority-owned businesses in Arizona will not survive.

“It’s very disheartening to see that we have business owners in my community who have poured in their entire life savings, their entire life to their businesses, and they’re more than likely not going to be able to open again and recover from this," Hernandez said.

The Thursday afternoon event also featured Congressman Ruben Gallego and Congressman Raul Ruiz.

She says only a small percentage of the Hispanic-owned businesses who applied for federal assistance have been granted the funds.

Hernandez also criticized the state and federal government for not giving enough resources to the Navajo Nation.
