Arizona State University To Hold Virtual Commencement Ceremonies Due To The Coronavirus
Arizona State University is shifting its spring 2020 commencement ceremonies to virtual, online events due to the coronavirus. President Michael Crow announced the move on Thursday.
The virtual graduation ceremonies are scheduled for May 11 and 12. Crow said the move was “the only responsible and course of action available.”
Spring 2020 graduates can also choose to participate in in-person commencement ceremonies scheduled for this December and next Spring.
“As we push forward to make this happen, I am mindful of the disappointment that you and your family will likely share in not being able to gather in-person at ASU,” Crow said in the statement. “As a first-generation college graduate, who came from a family where college attainment was a life-changing achievement, I can appreciate the anticipation of reaching this defining milestone.”
