Gov. Doug Ducey’s executive order to ensure Arizonans won’t be evicted during the pandemic has some stipulations.

If a tenant has lied to the landlord about a criminal record, other occupants or even pets, it may result in an eviction anyway.

For those the order does protect, the Arizona Multihousing Association, which is made up of mostly landlords, is not as sure about this solution.

Association President Courtney LeVinus says that while she understands residents will be struggling, another plan is needed to address uncollected rents.

“This needs to be a comprehensive solution. We also need support for residential building owners or we're simply shifting the burden from one group to another," LeVinus said.

The executive order suspends law enforcement intervention into evictions until July. Any other evictions would need a judge order.
