President Trump said Monday that he’s extending the October deadline for Arizonans and others to get a REAL ID so they can fly domestically.

The Department of Homeland Security announced the new deadline to have a REAL ID-compliant identification card (to fly domestically and use with other federal agencies) is Oct. 1, 2021.

ADOT is urging people to delay going to the MVD offices due to the coronavirus crisis. MVD office visits for services that can only be done in person, like a driver’s license, are by appointment only.

An official says Arizonans with licenses set to expire between March 1 and Sept. 1 first have been given a six-month extension.
