Arizona lawmakers are considering a plan to let community colleges offer four-year bachelor’s degrees. The House approved the bill last week; it’s now moved to the Senate.

The Maricopa County Community College District supports the proposal, while the state’s three public universities, as well as the Board of Regents oppose it.

This is not the first time Arizona has considered a plan like this, nor is Arizona the only state to do so. In fact, 23 states already allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees.

Mary Fulton has been tracking this issue. She’s a senior policy analyst at Education Commission of the States, and she joined The Show to explain how different states handle this.
