They haven’t set a date — or an opponent — but the Cardinals will play one home game at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City this season.

The NFL required the Cardinals to play one game outside the U.S. in order to host the Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in 2023.

"(We're) thrilled to learn that this game will take place at Estadio Azteca where we received such an enthusiastic reception in 2005," Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "We are extremely grateful for the support we receive from fans in Mexico and look forward to an incredible experience.”

In 2005, the Cardinals played the first ever NFL game outside of the U.S. at the same stadium, where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in front of a crowd of more than 103,000 fans.

This game will be the fourth regular-season NFL game in Mexico City in the past five seasons.
