Changes To Medicaid Could Impact Patients, Services In Arizona
The Trump administration is pushing a plan to change the way Medicaid is funded.
The system covers low-income Americans, generally including kids, the disabled, pregnant women and in some cases, so-called childless adults. It’s paid for based on per-income capita for each state, with the state putting in a certain amount of money, and the feds matching that.
Under the new proposal, the amount states could get would be capped, and the federal government would provide states something very similar to block grants.
Swapna Reddy, a clinical assistant professor at the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University, joined The Show to talk about this potential change.
