As we inch closer to the 2020 election, security remains a major concern.

A new NPR poll found widespread worry from voters that the elections won’t be fair and accurate. Americans feel uneasy about disinformation and voter suppression.

In Arizona, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs says she’s working to build partnerships across the state to improve election security.

“We have monthly cyber security calls with election folks in all the counties," Hobbs said. "We’ve been doing that for almost the past year. We just had an elections security workshop. We simulated election disasters people had to respond to.”

Hobbs said there are procedures in place for handling, storing and transporting voting equipment to prevent tampering. But, she added that Arizona has been a target in the past and expects it to be so in the future.
