How Universities Could Start Paying NCAA Student-Athletes
Clemson and Louisiana State University will face each other in New Orleans tonight for the College Football Playoff National Championship.
The matchup comes as the NCAA is under increasing pressure to let athletes benefit from playing college sports. Last fall, California passed a law letting college athletes benefit from the use of their likeness in marketing. Several other states are considering similar laws, as is Congress.
Sports historian Victoria Jackson, a clinical assistant professor at the ASU School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies, joined The Show to discuss the issue, its underlying social justice aspects and some potential solutions.
