Maricopa County Community College District will not raise tuition on students next fiscal year, nor will it increase the property tax rate. In fact, the tax rate could go down slightly for homeowners by a couple dollars.

Overall, the district’s nearly $1.5 billion proposed budget amounts to about a 12 percent decrease from last year. That’s because spending on capital projects, funded by a 2004 bond measure, is slowing down. This past session, the legislature cut the remaining $8.8 million in funding for the community college district.

Later this month, the district’s governing boarding will vote on the proposed budget.
