How University Of Arizona Professor Phillip Kuo Is Bridging Eastern And Western Medicine
Dr. Phillip Kuo’s feet stand firmly in Western medicine. He’s a professor of medical imaging and biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona, but he’s also dedicated to one of Eastern medicine’s oldest practices: tai chi.
That’s what led him to form a friendship 20 years ago with acclaimed tai chi master ShaoJun Lyu. The two had a grand idea to create a project that would bridge the gap between their two worlds — Eastern and Western medicine.
They met again in Tucson two decades later, and now they’re doing just that. The two formed the nonprofit International Society of Chinese Health Practices, which just held its first symposium in Beijing.
The Show spoke with Kuo more about how it all began.
