1. Flintstones-Themed Bedrock City In Arizona Quietly Closes After Nearly 50 Years

Bedrock City was a modern Stone Age family theme park — featuring Flintstones-inspired concrete houses, a dinosaur slide, theater, restaurant and gift shop. The roadside attraction closed for good in late January.

2. Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway Scheduled To Open

Nearly 35 years after Maricopa County voters first approved funding it, the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway opened in December.

3. Teacher Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Sex With 13-Year-Old Boy

In July, a judge sentenced former teacher Brittany Zamora to 20 years in prison and two terms of lifetime probation for molesting a 13-year-old student.

4. Jury Dismissed In Border Aid Worker Trial

In June, the jury in the trial of No More Deaths activist Scott Warren unable to reach a verdict. The jury deliberated nearly 12 hours over two days before telling the judge they weren’t able to agree.

5. Scottsdale-Based SuperShuttle Shutting Down
