Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs has been elected Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus. He will replace Mark Meadows of North Carolina.

The two-term Republican congressman represents Arizona's 5th District, which encompasses most of the East Valley. Biggs is a longtime Arizona lawmaker who previously served as president of the state senate.

Biggs said in a statement, "The House Freedom Caucus has created a national reputation by standing up for Americans who have felt that they didn’t have a voice in Congress."

Melanie Zanona, a congressional reporter for Politico, joined the show to talk about Biggs, Meadows and what this transition says about the caucus' influence.
