How Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account program impacts Arizona’s schools has been a big topic of discussion over the past several years.

Now the Goldwater Institute, which helped usher in the program, has a new report called “The Public School Benefits of Education Savings Accounts.”

Matt Beienburg is Goldwater’s director of education policy and the report’s author. The Show spoke with him about the report.

Despite a push to expand ESAs in Arizona, voters blocked that expansion by voting down Prop. 305, by a roughly 2-to-1 margin.

Dawn Penich-Thacker is a co-founder of the group Save Our Schools Arizona, which led that campaign. She also joined The Show to talk about this new report.
