The Department of Transportation says it’s ready for the winter storm that’s expected to bring rain and snow to most of the state the next few days.

ADOT spokesman Garin Grof says they’ve positioned snow plows and snow plow operators around the state, where snow is expected, and increased staffing at the traffic operation center. But he says the expectation is for more rain than snow.

“Looks like the storm will leave snow only at some of the higher elevations, so we’re looking at Flagstaff, which would be I-40 and I-17, and then also the eastern part of the state, probably around Greenlee County,” Grof said.

He advises motorists to be extra careful if they encounter rain or snow. He advises slowing down and leaving space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you. And he says you should be aware of the potential for falling rocks in the area where there are slopes next to the road.
