2020 Marijuana Ballot Initiative Submitted To Arizona Secretary of State
The first marijuana-related ballot initiative for the 2020 election has been officially filed with Arizona’s Secretary of State's Office.
The Smart And Safe Arizona Act has been submitted for the 2020 ballot. It would legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and over.
The initiative sets restrictions on where marijuana can be smoked, prohibits operating vehicles, boats, or aircraft while impaired to the slightest degree, allows employers to maintain drug-free workplaces, and allows for safety regulations on marijuana products.
It also earmarks $39 million for teacher training programs, state-level substance abuse councils and committees, enforcing DUI laws, and community outreach and education programs.
The amendment would allow those convicted of several different categories of marijuana offenses to apply to have the arrest, charges, and convictions expunged.
