State health officials say about nine of every 10 Arizonans now lives in an area with a medical marijuana dispensary. The state Department of Health Services says 47 dispensaries have been inspected and approved to operate and that so far 35 of those are open and operating.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said eight suspected undocumented immigrants have been hospitalized after being found in the back of a U-Haul truck at a gas station northwest of Tucson. Chief Deputy Steve Henry said each of them had paid $5,000 to be transported from Douglas to Phoenix, but that it was just too hot inside the truck.

The state of Arizona has retained a former immigration official as an expert in a bid to deny driver’s licenses to ‘dreamers’ eligible for the deferred action program. That program allows children who came to the country illegally to stay in the United States and to work here.

Arizona police departments were busy over the Fourth of July holiday weekend enforcing DUI and traffic laws. Last summer at this time, more than 650 DUI arrests were made, while nearly half that amount was reported this year.

Phoenix’s foreclosure crisis may finally be over. Arizona State University said the Valley’s foreclosure rate has now hit normal historical levels. Foreclosures in the Phoenix area are down 53 percent from last year, and Mike Orr with Arizona State University’s W.
