A senior at Arizona State University, Riis Valcho began his aspirations as a journalist when he was a reporter for the Mesa Legend at Mesa Community College, reporting on campus news and sports stories. Most recently, Valcho has continued to hone his journalism skills as a writer and multimedia producer for ASU’s The State Press, where he co-hosted the newspaper’s first digital news webcast “State Press Weekly.”

An Arizona native, he is proud to report on stories which affect both the Valley and the state he loves. In fact, Valcho was nicknamed “Mr. Arizona” by close friends after rattling off random facts about the state during Arizona’s centennial celebration year. He has also lived along the Central Coast of California, Oklahoma, and North Texas.

Valcho is expecting to graduate in December 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He loves rooting for all the local sports teams, hiking and road trips.
