Austin Westfall grew up in Los Angeles and discovered a passion for journalism when a college professor recommended he take an introductory news reporting course. He received his associate’s degree in New Media Journalism from College of the Canyons in 2017. He then transferred to Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and will graduate in May 2019.
Before moving to Arizona, Westfall worked as a multimedia journalist for the Santa Clarita Valley Signal newspaper, covering breaking news, crime and human interest stories for both online video and print publication. He discovered a passion for radio when he hosted a talk show for College of the Canyons’ student-run radio station. He has since anchored a weekly newscast for ASU’s Blaze Radio and currently hosts a weekly podcast for The State Press, ASU's student-run news publication.
Westfall has special interests in investigative journalism and breaking news reporting. He also avidly follows the NBA and is a big fan of late-night talk shows.
