Blake Benard is a senior at Arizona State University, majoring in sports journalism with a minor in film and media production. He joined KJZZ as a producer in August 2016.
During his time at Arizona State, Benard has worked for Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and Fox Sports 910 AM in the Phoenix area. He has also served as the sports director at Blaze Radio, ASU’s student-run radio station, for two years. He has grown into a play-by-play voice of ASU athletics, produced weekly broadcasts of ASU athletics and developed the department’s digital and social media presence.
Benard has also worked as a reporter for Channel 8 Arizona PBS in the Phoenix market. This past summer, he worked in the Cape Cod Baseball League as a field reporter, photographer, digital writer and social media coordinator for the Falmouth Commodores.
Benard is one of 10 siblings and has grown up in the Phoenix area. When not on the job, you can find him in a dark-lit movie theater enjoying the latest indie flick.
