Tuesday 9 O'Clock Special
By: Michele Robins on 09/17/2012
Tonight explore the different styles and influences of jazz guitarists Charlie Byrd and Earl Klugh. Byrd jammed with Django Reinhardt, recorded with Woody Herman, and with Stan Getz introduced the Brazilian bossa nova to international audiences. Klugh was inspired by Chet Atkins and his first recording, at age 15, was with Yusef Lateef. He played on George Benson's White Rabbit album and in his touring band. Two different eras. Two incomparable jazz guitarists! Jazz awakes at 8.
