Giffords officially launches PAC

Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, along with her husband, Mark Kelly, officially launched her political action committee Tuesday. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.

MARK BRODIE: Gabby PAC will be co-chaired by Robert Reich, a Democrat, and Trey Grayson, a Republican. Reich served as U.S. Labor Secretary under President Clinton; Grayson was Kentucky’s Secretary of State until resigning last year to become Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School. He also ran for the U.S. Senate two years ago, but lost in the primary to Rand Paul. In a statement, the group says it will “only support candidates who are dedicated to working hard for commonsense, bipartisan solutions that strengthen our communities and our entire country.” But, that statement also refers to supporting Democratic candidates who work in a bi-partisan manner. Giffords resigned her seat in Congress earlier this year, to focus on her recovery from a gunshot wound to the head she suffered in 2011, while meeting with constituents in Tucson.
