Terry Ward began working at KMCR (soon to become KJZZ) in 1985. As the midday disc jockey he gained experience doing on-air interviews with musicians such as Michael and Randy Brecker, Thad Jones, Jean Luc Ponty and James Moody. That helped him transition to the newsroom, and he began anchoring and reporting news in 1987 as the local host of All Things Considered.

Terry continues to anchor KJZZ’s midday programming, and produces both short and long-form news stories with an emphasis on the arts community. He also conducts breaking news interviews and reports from the field as needed.

Some highlights of his career include interviewing newsmakers as diverse as Carl Sagan, Rosa Parks, Helmut Kohl and Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison.

Terry has won a number of state and national awards for his reporting, and in 2011 was recognized by the Phoenix Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists with its Order of the Silver Key for 25 years of broadcast excellence.

In 1998 he was selected as one of 20 American journalists by the German government for a three-week exchange program that took them to Berlin, Munich, Strasbourg and Brussels. The mission was to observe and report on the European Union Parliament.

Terry enjoys playing racquetball and basketball with his two adult sons, and has developed a new appreciation for those who can play musical instruments as he learns the guitar.
