Regents approve contract for new U of A president

The Arizona Board of Regents has approved a contract for the next president of the University of Arizona. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie reports.

MARK BRODIE: Dr. Ann Weaver Hart will take over on July 1. She’s been the President of Temple University in Philadelphia for the past six years, and has also led the University of New Hampshire.

Hart’s contract is for three years, and calls for an annual salary of $475,000. In addition, she’ll have yearly housing and car allowances of $50,000 and $10,000, respectively.

In a statement, Governor Jan Brewer calls Hart “a national leader in higher education.”

Former President Robert Shelton left the U of A last summer, to take over the Fiesta Bowl. Eugene Sander has been serving as Interim President since then.
