I don't care how active companies are in their community, what I care about is if jobs and spending will leave the area. If US Airways is headquartered in Atlanta. How many jobs will AZ lose?
woah, we just breezed through a few surface-level questions about the US Airways-Delta merger, without really scratching the surface.
If corporate HQ moves to Atlanta, as is 90%+ likely, then how many jobs leave Phoenix?
I want to hear more.

I was born in Montana in 1954. Copper was "king". The towns of Butte and Anaconda thrived. I remember going to the largest "city" in Montana for shopping and medical care. The area's economy was closely tied to copper prices. But the cost was high. The creeks and streams ran with toxic waste, the mountains were denuded of trees and there were large swathes of land devoured or buried under hills of toxic waste. The area is one of the largest and most expensive Super Fund sites in the nation. The once thriving town of Butte was swallowed by the open pit mine and then became nearly extinct when the mine closed. Did Montana ulimately gain or lose? Would other less harmful industries developed without the powerful cooper companies? And where are those companies now-South America? I worry of Arizona! Because many areas of the West are just now recovering from the rape of the landscape by large corporations that cared only for their profit and in the past have left miners and towns and landscape in ruin.
