Here and Now - The Future of AZ Newspapers / Food Network's Guy Fieri

There was a time when Arizona had six daily newspapers serving the metro areas of Tucson and Phoenix. Now, that number is down to three. It could have been two if a buyer for the East Valley Tribune wasn't found.

Why do you think the business model for newspapers is failing? What can they do to stay alive and relevant in Arizona? Post your comments below.

Plus, whether it's pimping for TGIF Fridays in TV commercials, or dominating the airways of the Food Network, Guy Fieri has become a food pop sensation. Now, he's in town for a Roadshow at the Mesa Arts Center. We'll talk to Fieri about how the restaurateur is handling his new fame while running businesses and raising a family.

What you you like to ask Guy? Let us know below.

The heart of the problem is the industry's entrenched belief that the news business requires delivery on newsprint.

Demand for information is growing exponentially, but newprint is an archaic medium. A tiny subset of general-interest information, at least 24 hours old, will not cut it in the future. The industry needs to reinvent itself using emerging, digital mediums. It has tried, but has not really done so yet.
