Here and Now - Renewable Energy in AZ
In January, KJZZ brought listeners a special series on renewable energy that looked at why other places, such as Germany, were further along in adopting the use of renewable energy sources than Arizona. KJZZ's Here and Now featured a discussion on what it would take for renewable energy policies to take hold in Arizona.
Friday, a conference at NAU in Flagstaff examines the need to integrate state and federal policy with emerging technologies to increase the amount of energy produced from renewable sources. Renewable energy consultant Amanda Ormond joins Here and Now host Steve Goldstein from the KNAU studios in Flagstaff.
NAU political science professor Fred Solop will later join Goldstein to discuss Northern Arizona politics and public policy.

I recently had a solar energy company rep come by the house to tell me how much a conversion product would cost and how long it would be before I recoup my investment. I was particularly struck by the news that SRP caps residential solar units at 5 kwh. Older units may produce more energy than that, but it seems to me that SRP is worried about their profit margin if too many convert to solar. Please comment on this. Why can't solar customers make as much "green" energy as we may like (or may be able to afford)? How may we change this "cap"?
Why is SRP allowed to take so long to approve residential PV setups. I have had mine installed for nearly three weeks and SRP has still not inspected it.
I assume it is because SRP wants to wait as long as possible prior to losing a paying customer
