Here and Now: Senator Jon Kyl
Jon Kyl is the second highest ranking Republican in the U.S. Senate. He opposed many of the economic measures passed by Congress this year and will soon vote on a stimulus package that could top $300 billion. Kyl tried to broker a compromise on immigration reform until if fell apart after unprecendented pressure from conservative radio talk show hosts and their listeners. A crack down on the border and the down economy has sent many immigrants home, but there are still many unresolved issues.

Will you support H.R. 676, Rep. John Conyers' bill which guarantees comprehensive publicly-funded, privately-delivered health care for everyone in the U.S.? In these troubled times, we need to help ALL of the citizens by guaranteeing health care and take the burden off employers of all sizes. This would help the auto industry by taking this expense out of the cost of an automobile.
After enduring 7+ years of one of the worst administrations in U.S. history, and Sen. Kyl being a major cheerleader of it the whole time, does he actually think that we are all still that stupid as to actually listen to his thoughts. I'm 46 and this is certainly the worst times I have ever experienced. Thank you Mr. Kyl and all your blind conservative peers.
Senator,
I want to thank you for the dedicated service you have given to the citizens of AZ.
I sincerely hope that in November of 2010 we will have fresh senatorial candidate choices allowing us to elevate your status to the "SENIOR" senator from the State of Arizona.
dear Sen Kyle If the Bush tax cuts were so good and spur growth then why have so many jobs been lost during these years, certainly not just this year, and also the gap between the richest and poorest americans has never been greater.please explain, these jobs you say are created simply are not true.
Can believe I'm listening to the crap. This is the same old Republican bullshit they've been spewing for the last eight years. Somebody ask him what happened to the budget surplus Clinton left. Their solution to everything is cut taxes for the rich and screw everyone else. Kyle is a xxxx-xxx should be defeated ASAP..
it has been pointed out that some of the current econ problem is the result of failed oversite by the Congress. would congress be willing to accept a pay cut as recognition of their part?
Jeff,
I understand your frustration and appreciate you not using profanities, but I had to edit your posting. Hopefully there are other colorful descriptions you can use with out going that route.
Paul
I do not understand how the moderator could let the Senator accuse democrats of running up spending when his party has been in control for so long as has a horrendous record on spending and the deficit. Please be more than just a talking head. Your listeners deserve better. Remember, the Senator works for US. Be respectful, but also truthful.
I apologize. It's just that I pay money to listen to KJZZ and this is what I have to put up with? Lies, lies and more lies by this guy. It's insulting.
Sen. Kyl
Arizona get $18 per capita in earmarks, the averave US state gets $51 and Alaska gets $507. Why do we get so little. Why was Senator McCain so quiet on Alaska earmarks after he picked Sarah Palin?
There was a program during the 30's - 40's called a SAM which was a Shared Appreciation Mortgage. Basically when the value of the home was less than what was owed on it, the bank or lender would rewrite the loan to its actual value with the condition of when it sold, if it went up in value you had to split the capitol gain with the lender. would this not work in our current mortgage crisis?
I find it very disturbing that Jon Kyl and the Republican party are unable to grasp that their fundamental belief of a hands off regulatory approach to society, the economy and corporate America is not in the overall long-term interest of our nation. I believe that John McCain lost the election in large part because he refused to admit as much. Republicans must drop their belief that regulation is antithetical to America’s well being.
