Governor Napolitano

Governor Napolitano

Governor Napolitano returns to Here and Now. Lots to talk to her about. Capitol observers say she pretty much got her way with the budget passed by the legislature, but was it enough to solve declining state revenues?

One way to raise money is the deployment of fixed photo radar and photo radar vans that will be deployed to sites that data determined are where most accidents occur. What do you think of expanding photo radar?

Also, an outspoken former state lawmaker resigned from the Governor's cabinet this month. Sue Gerard had served as the director of the Department of Health Services, an agency she watched like a hawk when she was a lawmaker. What gives? Is it the result of another negative inspection of the state veteran's home?

What would you like to ask the governor? Jot your thoughts down below. To prevent spam--we monitor posts--so if your comment doesn't appear right away--that's the reason why.

Re: Governor Napolitano

This is not for a blog but for the program with the Governor on July 23rd.

The Governor has done a laudable job in supporting education here. The payoff will be seen soon. What is her next major issue [while making sure education's progress continues]? I would like her to address energy on several fronts. When I was going to the Reno airport recently, I noted a huge billboard announcing that "Nevada is the leader on solar power." We hear about NM's accomplishments. Even in Montana, I saw more solar panels on homes than we have here. The legislature isn't going to do anything. Why not adopt Al Gore's goal of no foreign oil in 10 years. Let AZ lead the charge! People are ready to go green so lead them.

Re: Governor Napolitano

I worked for the AZ department of Corrections for 3 wks last yr.

Is the Gov aware of how they run their recruiting? They're just like the Army. They lie and get you to quit a perfectly good job and then 3 wks later, when you can't peform the physical exercises, which they promised you would get help with, they let you go.

The worst part is that they have you buy uniforms not knowing whether you are even going to "make it' through training, then, when you don't make it, they take the money out of your paycheck. $350 is a lot of money to lose when you're a single mom. It's not like you bought the uniform at Walmart and you can just return it.

I think the whole thing is a scam and would like to get this whole process changed because the state is profiting from this and it stinks.

A Couple of years ago a fellow modified a Boeing 747 to drop fire retardant on wildfires. It carried (if memory serves)
six times more retardant than the planes in use carry.

The story was that it had to be tested. What happened to that testing?

Kind Regards,

I don't really know I what you have against illegal aliens, except they are illegal. Why don't you get aggressive with them, like getting them targeting then them in there grocering stores like big mega-stores "Ranch Market". I bet you will garner 100 arrests at each store, they have 6 strores in the community.

Re: Question for Governor Napolitano

I had heard there were tax incentives for employers to have their employees carpool or telecommute, I can't find any further information about it. is this true? If so, where I can I find this information?

Are there plans to expand the Light Rail so that more people can use it? The Light Rail route is very limited so far. With an expanded system, we certainly could help alleviate "rush hour" traffic and cut down on our carbon footprint.

I do agree with lowering the speed limit on the highways and interstates: 60 mhr is satisfactory; 55 mhr might be a little too slow.
