Here and Now: Airline Adversity
Those friendly skies aren't so friendly, at least not to your pocketbook. The huge jump in the cost of fuel is having a tremendous impact on airlines. Many have started charging for luggage and some are enforcing strict carry-on limitations. And have you checked out the cost to fly to your favorite destinations?
Higher travel costs has also prompted some to not travel, although the parking lots at Sky Harbor are full as people escape Arizona's heat.
How have higher prices affected you? What do you think airlines should do?
We also want to know how high fuel prices has affected your driving.

When gas prices started rising I made an unusual choice. I bought a motorcycle and started commuting to work. Besides the heat in the valley we have wonderful riding conditions all year round.
Moving from 300 dollars a month in gas to 45 is a nice feeling.
I am listening to your program and you are aksing for commnets on how high gas prices have affected our travel.
We will still be taking a summer vacation, however, instead of taking our roomy mini-van (21 mpg), we are taking our smaller vehcile (28 mpg). As far our daily life, my husband is riding his bicycle three times per week (9 miles one way) and then he rides the bus back in the evening. Also, I plan my outings more carfully, trying to do several errands everytime I drive further than 5-7 miles.
Thanks.

A friend of mine now uses the bus instead of driving but he has a problem - in Mesa, the bus does not run on Sunday, which means he is unable to use the bus to get to work or to run any errands. Will there be a change in Mesa to add Sunday service any time soon?
